I do not know where this originated, but I concur with the idea. We have to do something to get attention in Washington…Republicans as well as Democrats.
There’s a storm abrewin’. What happens when good, responsible people keep quiet? Washington has forgotten they work for us. We don’t work for them. Throwing good money after bad is NOT the answer. I am sick of the midnight, closed door sessions to come up with a plan. I am sick of Congress raking CEO’s over the coals while they, themselves, have defaulted on their taxes. I am sick of bailed out companies having lavish vacations and retreats on my dollar.
I am sick of being told it is MY responsibility to rescue people that, knowingly, bought more house than they could afford. I am sick of being made to feel it is my patriotic duty to pay MORE taxes. I, like all of you, am a responsible citizen. I pay my taxes. I live on a budget and I don’t ask someone else to carry the burden for poor decisions I may make. Many emailed & contacted their Congressmen and Senators asking them to NOT vote for the stimulus package as it was written without reading it first. They did not listen. They voted for it, pork and all. Did they read what they passed? I don’t think they had that kind of time. Remember, we were in a “crisis,” and they had to “act fast”…right!
OK, folks, here it is. You may think you are just one voice and what you think won’t make a difference. Well, yes it will and YES, WE CAN!! If you are disgusted and angry with the way Washington is handling our taxes…”our” money…if you are fearful of the fallout from the reckless spending of BILLIONS to bailout and “stimulate,” without accountability and responsibility, then we need to become ONE LOUD VOICE THAT CAN BE HEARD FROM EVERY CITY, TOWN, SUBURB AND HOME IN AMERICA. There is a growing protest to demand that Congress, the President and his cabinet LISTEN to us, the American Citizens. What is being done in Washington is NOT the way to handle the economic free fall.
So, here’s the plan. On April 1, 2009, all Americans are asked to send a TEABAG, or at least the tea bag label, to Washington, D.C. You do not have to enclose a note or any other information unless you so desire. Just a TEABAG, or maybe better, the label. They might consider “tea” a dangerous substance…and in this case, it certainly is! Many cities are organizing protests. Many have already happened. What! You didn’t read about it in the press? If you simply web search, “New American Tea Party”, several sites will come up. If you aren’t the ‘protester’ type, simply make your one voice heard with a TEABAG. Your one voice will become a roar when joined with millions of others that feel the same way. Yes, something needs to be done, but the lack of confidence as shown by the steady decline in the stock market speaks volumes.
This was not my idea. I visited the sites of the ‘New American Tea Party’ and an online survey showed over 90% of thousands said they would send the teabag on April 1. Why, April 1?? We want them to reach Washington by April 15. Will you do it? I will.

I would encourage everyone to go ahead and get the envelope ready to mail, then just drop it in the mail April 1. Can’t guarantee what the postage will be by then, as it is going up as we speak, but have your envelope ready. What will this cost you? A little time and a 40-something cent stamp.
What could you receive in benefits? Maybe, just maybe, our elected officials will start to listen to the people. Take out the Pork! Tell us how the money is being spent! We want TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY.
Remember, the money will be spent over the next 4-5 years. It is not too late.

First of all, if paying you taxes is patriotic, does that mean that Tom Daschle, Tim Geitner, and most of the other Obama cabinet nominees are unpatriotic?
Second what really burns me is the Republican party’s lack of leadership on fiscal responsibility. This is a winning issue for them, as well as a uniting issue. I was disgusted to hear that 40% of the earmarks the omnibus budget bill was from Republicans. As the CEO’s get grilled on reckless spending, the congress takes lavish trips, and has a large enough staff of aids and assistants (entourage) to make the most prima donna hollywood celebutard jealous. The GOP should cut down on their staff, thus saving the taxpayers money, stop all earmarks, and not vote for their pay raises while the government is running a deficit. Their leadership talks a good talk, but their walk tells me that if given power again, they will go back to drunken sailor spending ways. It is not very motivating when your two choices are big spending and big spending lite.

“In the last couple of weeks it seems a lot more of my attention for some reason has been diverted to public education more so then normal. This I am certain of. Those in our age range may well be the last group to hear with any substance the story of our American Heritage in public schools. Individuals in our school system have been gradually weened off of anything that openly extols the virtues of this great country of ours.
I mentioned this because we may well be some of the last who can grasp with any significances the meaning of the Boston Tea Party and why sending Tea Bags now may in effect be like firing a shot across their bowel.
I sincerely believe if we have a hope of recovering the land far more of us love, than Washington would have us believe, it will be through a grass roots movement that is action oriented and believe at all possible cost every effort should be made to accomplish objectives peacefully. It has to be made up of people who understand, America is not a place or a people but an ideal. It is the ideal that is being lost to a group with not simply radically different ideal’s but looking at the Constitution and the Bill of Rights along with the Federalist Papers and numerous other documents much of what is unfolding is sedition. One of the earliest principles in discussion was that of eminent domain. That was to extend from our shores down to the states, to our communities and our homes. If people can’t see where that is under extreme threat I don’t know what to say.
I see nothing wrong with what is proposed here. I don’t believe we can rely to heavily on the political action groups as well meaning as many are. We have to be fully engaged ourselves. The fact that we haven’t been is why we are here.
When I speak of being fully engaged I am speaking of someone who is passionate about an ideal that compliments God original plans with respect to family, community and nation. A person who understands their position in Christ and how that plays out in peaceful opposition to the unholy acts of ignorant men realizing such conduct could be costly but are willing to make the sacrifice nonetheless. They have a sincere appreciation for what John Adams once noted;”Liberty must at all hazards be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker. But if we had not, our fathers have earned and bought it for us, at the expense of their ease, their estates, their pleasure, and their blood.” They do this not for their benefit but for those to young to speak for themselves, for those who are unable, for those yet to come. They realize life is much bigger than their own immediate needs. They see the big picture. That is what I mean by being fully engaged.
You mentioned something about submitting what I wrote to a sight where I guess conversations are underway. Today I spent the day preparing lesson plans for a mens group I teach Tuesday night. I also am involved with another one on Thursday morning. In addition, I am engaged with activities with the church on a number of issues and the community. I read a number of web sights and regularly basis write my represenative and senator. I feel it is important to say no to some things. If it means anything you are free to pass anything I say to anyone you wish.
All I know it is my desire to be the man God always intended me to be. To serve Him and Him alone and in so doing be the best father possible, the best friend to those God introduces me to and to love the country he has established passionately.”
